This Is It Trailer
The This is it trailer for the upcoming Michael Jackson concert rehearsal film This Is It debuted at the MTV Music Awards recently and it is truly awesome. Also at the show, Janet Jackson performed a tribute to the late King of Pop in a moving ceremony.
This is it is based on around 50 hours worth of archival footage from rehearsals that the Gloved One did while he was preparing for his comeback tour. Among the theatrics we're likely to see in the movie are a number of amazingly choreographed dance moves that the King of Pop had been rehearsing for the show, including one that appears was not originally intended to be part of the show, unless it was shown on a video screen. The reason is that the scene shows Michael standing in front of an army of performers with the letter M in the distant background as he performs some of this signature dance moves. The scene simply does not look like it could have been staged on a live concert hall stage, but who knows for sure? Only the man himself knows and he's now in a better place.
Still, the This is It Trailer does give us quite a glimpse of other things in store for us. There is a rendition of Billie Jean and there is also a rendition of Michael singing Man in the Mirror. I saw nothing in the trailer that included the Thriller song, but who knows? We can only hope that the song that defined the King of Pop's career and the video which MTV claims as the greatest music video of its history will somehow have been recorded one last time before the pop singer's untimely death.
Some footage of Michael performing 'They Don't Care About Us' during a rehearsal at Staples Center in Los Angeles emerged soon after his death in June along with several photographs of the event, but there is still no word on whether that footage has been included in the movie.
The This is It Trailer can be seen on You Tube for those who missed it. If you want tickets to the show, you need to move fast. The show will be available for just two weeks and then it will be gone for good. One would imagine the movie will eventually be released onto DVD, but this is probably your last chance to see the man himself in a way that makes him look larger than life.
