You're Doing It Wrong
Following is an actual law school exam from a Tulane Law School student, who apparently wasn't up writing a practice exam for his Contracts class. The professor, who does personally review the practice exams, decided to read this one out loud to the class. Read the whole story exclusively on Lazlo's Basement at www.lazlosbasement.com/blog.
Personally, we think it's the best law school exam we've ever read.
"The pop music war of the 1980's was fierce and epic. Defined by a class of stars the world has rarely seen. But nowhere was the struggle more heated than the battle between titans for domination of the club scene waged by (the artist formerly known as) Prince and the still African-American Michael Jackson. Other musicians of the era were mere comets, momentarily stealing attention away from the two competing suns of the American music scene.
Jackson, with his highly choreographed repertoire of dance moves was the perfect star for the naughyde clad MTV generation. While the more hirsute Prince demonstrated a Shakespearian ability to euphemize coitus through soul searching sounds that would capture the hearts of women everywhere. Though both young gods of the music scene, neither fit the stereotype. Jackson, with his latent predilection for buggery and undiagnosed bat-shit craziness took to wearing a single glove in public, to separate himself from the worst of his unwashed masses.
Prince on the other hand, was above, beside and below the fray, but never in it. His roguish sense of style and puckish flair could not be replicated by any other heterosexual male, at least one who wished to retain his dignity. But Prince indisputably saw more tail than a toilet seat. He has stayed a riddle, wrapped in an enigma and cloaked in a conundrum, to this very day.
What happened to these heroes of myth and legend? Unlike warriors of past generations they were destined to wither away to shadows of their former selves. Jackson is currently in self-imposed exile in Bahrain having sold his rights to the Beatles collection to pay his legal fees. He is the mere jester of a middle eastern oil magnate, but he gave us thriller, and for that he will always have a place among the stars. Prince is a devout Jehovah's witness. He now refuses to sing large portions of his catalogue because it conflicts with his religious beliefs. he is still releasing music however, and still popular. He has gained lasting fame as a thespian, lyricist, pancake maker, balla and shot calla. Though he is no longer the titan of a legend, he is still a fading star in the universe of Americana."
